Safety Evaluation Report

The NRC staff reviewed the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station license renewal application for compliance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 54, "Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants," and prepared this report to document its preliminary findings. The document was issued on July 31, 2012, as "Safety Evaluation Report with Open Items Related to the License Renewal of Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station."

Subsequently, on September 3, 2013, the document "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station" was issued. On August 10, 2015, the staff issued Supplement 1 to "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station."

In April 2016, the staff published the final "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station" as NUREG-2193 Volume 1 and NUREG-2193 Volume 2.

In April 2016, the staff published Supplement 1 to the final "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station" as NUREG-2193 Supplement 1.

Environmental Impact Statement

NUREG-1437, "Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants Regarding Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1 (NUREG-1437, Supplement 52) Final Report," was published in April 2015. This supplement documents the NRC staff's review of the environmental issues at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1 regarding the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company application for license renewal of that facility. The supplement was prepared in accordance with 10 CFR 51.71. This supplemental environmental impact statement includes the NRC staff's analysis that considers and weighs the environmental effects of the proposed action (license renewal), the environmental impacts of alternatives to the proposed action, and potential mitigative measures for reducing or avoiding adverse impacts. It also includes the NRC staff's preliminary recommendation regarding the proposed action.
