Regulatory Guides Related to Fire Protection

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issues regulatory guides to describe (to licensees, applicants, and the public) methods that the staff considers acceptable for use in implementing specific parts of the agency's regulations, to explain techniques that the staff uses in evaluating specific problems or postulated accidents, and to provide data that the staff needs in its review of applications for permits or licenses. Regulatory guides are not substitutes for regulations, and compliance with regulatory guides is not required. The following table lists (in chronological order) the regulatory guides that the NRC has issued regarding topics related to fire protection for licensed facilities and materials.
