Technical Specifications
Standard Technical Specifications (STS) are published for each of the five operating reactor types and for Westinghouse Advanced Passive 1000 (AP1000) Plants as NUREG-series publications. Improved STS were developed based on the criteria in the Final Commission Policy Statement on Technical Specification Improvements for Nuclear Power Reactors, dated July 22, 1993 (58 FR 39132). This policy statement was subsequently codified by changes to Section 36 of Part 50 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR 50.36) (see also 60 FR 36953, July 19, 1995). The STS are continuously modified by NRC incorporating approved generic changes known as "Travelers". The NRC encourages licensees to upgrade their technical specifications consistent with the criteria in the policy statement and conforming, to the practical extent, to the latest revision with incorporated Travelers of the improved STS.
